FUM-IMU
Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) is a combined sensor made of gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer, which is used for simultaneous measurement of the linear acceleration of a moving object, its angular velocity and magnetic field of environment. Low cost, high precision and reliability in different environments have made IMUs useful and efficient in a wide range of applications such as navigation, orientation estimation in vehicles like ships and airplanes, examination and analysis of robot vibration, monitoring body kinematic parameters in patients or athletes and analysis of their activities.
In FUM CARE, a wearable system with the ability to use one to eight 9-axis IMU sensors and equipped with magnetometer is designed. FUM-IMU is designed and implemented in two versions of with wire (CAN protocol) and without wire (Wi-Fi). The data of our wireless version are simultaneously sent to the secondary receiver at an up to 100 Hz online and up to 3 KHz offline with the help of a personalized protocol at the center. Design, implementation, manufacturing of electronic boards, and establishment of communication protocols are all done by our researchers at FUM CARE.
