Artificial Intelligence
With the integration of artificial intelligence into robotics research and combining classical and intelligent controllers, we can place robots in uncertain and unstructured environments that include human beings. In other words, robots should recognize the best course of action to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. This means enabling robots to make spontaneous decisions. This gets challenging when the task is closely integrated with the human subject such as in robotic physiotherapy and exoskeletons for the elderly. In these circumstances, the robot may need to recognize the human intention and even emotion and make spontaneous decisions that accommodate its human subjects’ immediate needs while also ultimately helping with his/her faster recovery and rehabilitation.
