FUM-Motor Driver

Electronic Motor Drivers are widely used in industrial, automotive, aerospace and consumer products for controlling electrical motors in torque, speed or position modes. Drivers not only provide accurate and optimal control for motors, but also protect them from over-load conditions by limiting voltage, current and power, reducing output torque ripple and maximizing power efficiency that leads to increased life expectancy as well as reduction of operation and maintenance costs of motors and electrically actuated systems. When in regenerative braking mode, motor drivers can return the excess mechanical energy back to power supply or battery, which increases total system efficiency. Modern high-efficiency high-torque-density and high-performance motors, including Three-Phase Permanent-Magnet and Variable-Reluctance motors, all rely on electronic drivers for operation. A motor driver consists of an inverter for feeding proper voltage and current to the motor, a Digital Control Unit and communication protocols for receiving control commands, sending back measured signals or reporting status which enables applications in automation and robotics.

FUM-Motor Driver is capable of controlling a three-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous or Brushless DC motor up to 40V 15A with efficiency up to 97% at 500W output power. Motor torque is directly controlled by Field Oriented technique with Hall-Effect Position Sensor, Incremental Encoder, Sensor-less Operation or Position Estimation using combinational techniques. Motors can be controlled in the Torque, Speed or Position modes using FUM-Motor Driver. This driver provides protection for both motor and driver itself through over current, over load, over voltage in regenerative braking, phase short circuit, instable control gains, connection loss, Encoder or Hall sensor signal loss and heatsink over temperature protection. Connections include isolated CAN, isolated USB COM Port and isolated RS-485 with dedicated simple communication protocols that enables applications in various fields including robotics and medical devices.
