FUM-Hand III
Medical robotics has been attempting to develop prosthetic hands which can rival the biological human arm in terms of intuitive function.
FUM-Hand III is a modern 3-finger bionic hand. We have used electromyography (EMG) signals in order to control FUM-Hand III. Our control method works by transferring neuron signals from forearm muscles to the bionic hand, and is inspired by the natural agonist antagonist muscle activities for hand movement. FUM-Hand III works in three steps: electrode placement based on user’s forearm physiology, EMG signal processing, and finally transfer of intention to bionic hand.
